Universal Share — Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 18, 2026 · Operated by Algobots
Universal Share is a free Chrome extension that lets you share the current browser tab to popular platforms. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data the extension accesses and how it is handled.
Data We Access
When you open Universal Share, the extension reads the following from your active tab only:
- Page URL
- Page title
- Favicon URL
- Selected text (if any is highlighted on the page)
This information is used locally to display the share sheet and build share links. It is never sent to Algobots servers or any third party.
Data We Store
Universal Share saves the following on your device using Chrome's built-in storage API:
- Theme preference (light / dark / system)
- Pinned and recently used share apps
- Settings (notifications, QR generation, clipboard history preference)
- Optional clipboard history (only if enabled in settings)
This data stays on your device and is not transmitted externally.
Data We Do Not Collect
- No personal information or account registration
- No browsing history logs
- No analytics or tracking
- No selling or sharing of data
Third-Party Services
When you share to a platform (WhatsApp, Telegram, X, etc.), you are redirected to that service's website or app. Those services have their own privacy policies. The extension popup loads the Inter font from Google Fonts.
